Olive wood, turned on a lathe, with a base heavy enough that reaching for a spoon will not pull the crock over. A day's utensils fit without tangling. Because it is wood, the grain shifts from one piece to the next — yours will not match the photograph.

Materials
Solid olive wood, turned from a single blank. Fifteen centimetres tall, with a thickened base. Grain and colour differ a good deal from piece to piece.
Care
Wipe it with a damp cloth, then dry it. Do not submerge it and do not put it in a dishwasher — soaked wood dries fast and splits along the grain. Oil it now and then with food-grade mineral oil.
